About the role
Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. Responsibilities
- Provide care, supervision, structure, and build a therapeutic relationship with the youth in your care.
- Work with clients from 10-17 years old, males or females who are highly acute and potentially aggressive.
- Support the treatment process of each youth.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by your Supervisor.
Schedule
- Rotating schedule: 1st Shift: 7am-7pm or 2nd Shift: 7pm-7am
- Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Friday
- Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services field strongly preferred
- High School diploma/GED and two years' relevant experience working with youth will be considered in lieu of BA/BS degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for working with youth
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, employees are required to walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- The employee must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and children and youths from buildings in case of an emergency.
- The employee must be capable of running a distance as required in the apprehension of a fleeing youth.
