Residential Shift Supervisor

About the role

The Residential Shift Supervisor oversees daily operations and staff during assigned shifts at Bartlett Primary Assessment Center, a short-term, trauma-informed assessment facility for at-risk youth.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, assign duties, evaluate performance, and provide training and corrective guidance
• Aid in developing staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage for safe and effective facility operations
• Maintain facility security, monitor compliance with state regulations and agency policies
• Oversee youth behavior management, review incidents, and investigate grievances
• Supervise medication administration and ensure accurate documentation
• Absorb youth appointments, transports, and intake/discharge procedures
• Communicate regularly with leadership regarding staffing, safety, and operational concerns
• Conduct security checks, monitor electronic systems, and oversee room searches as needed
• Coordinate emergency response during incidents such as fire or severe weather

Requirements

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with youth in a residential setting required
• Prior supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to assess youth with substance abuse, mental health, and trauma history

Preferred Skills

• First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to obtain during probationary period)
• Strong leadership, supervision, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Sensitivity to cultural, gender, and individual differences

Physical Demands

• Must be physically healthy and emotionally stable
• Ability to engage with youth, participate in activities, and intervene physically if needed
• Must be free from communicable diseases as defined by the state
• Ability to pass evaluations for physical techniques and written certification exam
