About the role
As a Residential Rehab Educator/Counselor (Relief Staff), you will assist clients experiencing chronic behavioral health issues with activities of daily living, helping them develop independence and improve their quality of life. Relief Staff fill in as needed for regular staff absences, vacations, or unfilled positions across residences in Quincy, Braintree, Norwell, Randolph, Weymouth, and Brockton.
Responsibilities
- Monitor client activities in a residential group home setting
- Assist with grocery shopping, household chores, cooking, and personal care
- Manage client finances and provide transportation to appointments or community events
- De-escalate behavioral issues and administer medication as needed
- Engage clients in meaningful activities within the home and encourage positive behaviors
- Help clients meet individual service plan goals set by a team of medical and other professionals
Requirements
- High School diploma (some college preferred)
- Interest and/or coursework in Psychology, human services, healthcare, or related field
- Some experience in the mental health care field is preferred
- Current valid driver’s license in good standing with 1–3 years of driving experience
- Ability and willingness to attend all mandatory trainings
- Good communication skills, empathy, and ability to work as part of a team
- Must pick up at least one shift every 30 days to remain on the Relief Staff list
Training
After an initial training period working at several homes, you will choose available shifts based on your schedule and our needs. Mandatory trainings over a 6-month period include:
- New Hire Orientation (HR, Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM)
- First Aid/CPR (9:00 AM–3:00 PM)
- Workplace Safety (9:00 AM–4:00 PM)
- MAP (9:00 AM–5:00 PM or 5:00 PM–8:00 PM, recertification required)
- Special ACCS Team Orientation (9:00 AM–3:00 PM)
- Vitals (10:00 AM–12:00 PM)
Candidates with current CPR and MAP certifications will be given first consideration. CPR/First Aid certification is required within 3 months of employment, and MAP certification is required within 6 months.
Pay
Starting pay is $20.00 per hour for varied shifts. Compensation is based on candidate experience, qualifications, and certifications.
