About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in residential mortgage lending who wants to develop deeper expertise in quality control, compliance, risk, and underwriting. This role offers excellent exposure to different areas of the mortgage process, a supportive team environment, long-term growth potential, and a hybrid schedule with one day per week working from home.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct post-closing quality control and loan file reviews.
  • Review mortgage documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Examine borrower credit, income, assets, liabilities, collateral, and supporting documentation.
  • Review appraisals, title work, and other loan documentation.
  • Identify discrepancies, potential risk factors, and areas requiring additional review.
  • Document findings clearly and communicate issues or recommended corrective actions.
  • Develop your knowledge of underwriting guidelines and processes with training and support from experienced team members.
  • Stay current on mortgage regulations, investor requirements, and industry changes.
  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives, internal system testing, and process improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization to resolve questions and maintain loan quality.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years minimum residential mortgage industry experience.
  • Experience in areas such as mortgage operations, processing, closing, post-closing, quality control, compliance, loan review, or similar functions.
  • Residential mortgage underwriting experience is not required.
  • Exposure to Conventional, Jumbo, Non-QM, Business Purpose, or other loan products is helpful.
  • Quality Control, post-closing audit, or loan review experience is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with lender or investor guidelines is a plus.
  • Loan closing experience is also valuable.
  • Most importantly, we're looking for someone with a strong mortgage foundation who is interested in learning and growing into the underwriting and quality control aspects of the position.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Residential mortgage documentation and loan files
  • Mortgage processing, closing, post-closing, or quality control
  • Investor and secondary market guidelines
  • Title and collateral documentation
  • Federal mortgage regulations such as TRID, TILA, RESPA, QM/ATR, Regulation Z, and Fair Lending requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with tools such as CoreLogic, LexisNexis, ComplianceEase/Compliance Analyzer, National Appraisal Registry, PACER, AM Best, or Automated Underwriting Systems (DU/LPA) is a plus.

Pay

  • Salary: $60,000-65,000 possibly more for exceptional experience
