About the role
On The Way AC is hiring residential HVAC service technicians in Tampa. We operate on a Confident Advisor approach, focusing on quality workmanship, clear communication, and honest presentation of options.
Responsibilities
- Perform residential HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs with quality-first workmanship
- Protect customers' homes — shoe covers, drop cloths, clean work areas — and leave the home better than you found it
- Clearly explain what you are doing and why — earning trust through transparency and education
- Re-check system operation after every service or repair before leaving (fix it right the first time)
- Accurately document findings and outcomes in the system before leaving the home
- Maintain a clean, organized truck and ensure tools and inventory are ready daily
- Follow safety procedures both on the road and in customers' homes
- Clock with your Service Manager on higher-risk systems and follow-up scheduling
Requirements
- EPA 608 Certification (required)
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
- Residential HVAC service experience with diagnostic ability
- Ability to work in field environments (attics, outdoor conditions, ladders, crawl spaces)
- Strong communication skills with homeowners
- Willingness to follow systems and accept coaching
- Experience presenting repair options and educating homeowners
- Background in residential service or comfort advisor style service roles
- Familiarity with maintenance agreement programs

Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation structure, including hourly, salary, or performance-based pay, based on individual performance and experience. Top technicians can earn $80,000–$150,000 per year.
Pay
We do not oversell income numbers. Instead, we promise that if you perform at a high level, you will be paid accordingly.
Schedule
We prioritize smart scheduling to limit after-hours calls and maintain a reasonable workload. When you are on call, we expect you to be available. When you are not, we want you to have a life outside of work.
