Brief Description
Fred Finch Youth & Family Services is dedicated to making a positive impact on individuals with mental health issues through its diverse and supportive team. The organization is currently seeking a Residential Counselor, regardless of experience level, to contribute to their mission.
Pay/Benefits at a Glance
The pay range for this position is between $22.88 - $29.86 per hour, with the actual compensation determined by experience and other factors allowed by law. This is a temporary position with the potential for extension or conversion to a regular role.

Fred Finch Youth & Family Services partners with individuals and communities to provide culturally responsive services that promote mental and physical resilience and wellness. The Avalon program offers a safe, stable, and highly structured environment, combining intensive staffing, a milieu culture, mental health interventions, and behavior modification. Youth receive various forms of therapy, case management, medication support, and skill-building.
What You Will Do
Under supervision, you will provide high-quality, day-to-day care and supervision to participants at a residential or housing program to ensure their well-being and development while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment. You will also perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree;
- Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit;
- Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
- Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
- Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
- Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year.
Direct care staff shall be at least 21 years of age.
Licenses and Certifications
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
