Temporary Counselor

About the role

The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. It is where students live, where they gather, where they improve themselves, each other, and their university. DASA is where students seek guidance and support, both in and outside of the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Provide interim coverage for the Counseling Center while multiple searches are being conducted.
• Handle a general case load which will need attention during staff transition.
• Support the Counseling Center in managing increased workload during times of campus crisis/tragedy.
• Offer individual counseling services.
• Conduct group or workshop sessions as needed.
• Triage cases as necessary.

Requirements and Preferences

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.
• License eligible in NC or ability to be supervised for license.
• Experience providing crisis intervention, triage, and care coordination to young adults.
• Experience working with varied populations.
• Demonstrated strength in clinical assessment (triage) skills.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a flexible yet highly organized working style.
