Residential Child Care Licensing Inspector

Responsibilities

• Makes sure residential child-care facilities comply with standards and provides feedback on corrective actions.
• Investigates complaints and allegations of minimum standards violations.
• Evaluates new applications for permits and processes them according to law, rules, and policy time frames.
• Identifies risks and refers cases to Child-Care Enforcement when necessary.
• Provides training and technical assistance to residential child-care providers.
• Responds to emergency complaints of high-risk situations in residential child-care facilities.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Experience in regulatory services such as inspections and investigations.
• For Inspector IVs: Experience as a regulatory inspector or investigator.
• For Inspector Vs: Experience as a regulatory inspector or investigator or investigator.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Texas laws and regulations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to critically think and identify risk and mitigation measures.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people while promoting respect for cultural diversity.
• Ability to de-escalate situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Ability to self-start, organize, and manage priorities.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment including camera/AV equipment.
• Ability to travel.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $4,250.00 - $5,094.16 per month, paid monthly.

Schedule

This position may qualify for 100% telework with most of the work being conducted using mobile technology, such as a tablet and cell phone. Occasional work during the evening and weekends may be required.
