Phipps Neighborhoods, the social service affiliate of Phipps Houses, has been a catalyst for community growth and empowerment for over 50 years. Our mission is focused on creating safe, inclusive spaces where community members can access education, career opportunities, and economic pathways. Serving approximately 14,000 New Yorkers annually, we address barriers to educational achievement, economic security, and career stability through three key program areas: Primary Function, Education and School-Day Programs, and Sector-Focused Training and Employment Placement Pathways.

Primary Function

Provide one on one support to the residents of Forest Hills who require guidance and support for matters related to: Housing, Education, Employment, Benefits, Financial, and connecting residents to community resources.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Attend Bi-weekly Case Conference Meetings with supervisor to review case files.
  • Attend Community Resources Division Meetings, All Staff Meetings, and Case Management, and Committee Meeting.
  • Affiliate with residents of Phipps Houses with issues related to: health, entitlements, employment, education, training, and other relevant matters.
  • Enter data in Salesforce data base system.
  • Complete Universal Intake and enter all existing and new clients into Salesforce database system.
  • Facilitate workshops for residents on health & wellness, financial support, and mental health.
  • Participate in the Neighborhood Advisory Board or Committee Meetings, Community Board and Local Precinct Meetings.
  • Meet quarterly with Property Management in order to ensure both organizations are working as a team to resolve resident’s concerns.
  • Share updates related to Agency Resource Manual on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct surveys of the needs of the families.
  • Organizes activities and works directly with residents in group or individual settings.
  • Recruits residents for programs; provides individual or group service to families.
  • Provides leadership support for residents; guides participants in development, recreation, education, and other activities.
  • Provides direct services’ to families through counseling and referrals.
  • Develops Service Plans.
  • Completes case notes for all client interaction.
  • Maintains liaison with cooperating local service providers, neighborhood schools, and other community based organizations.
  • Performs other related tasks deemed necessary by agency.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s in human service, sociology, psychology, or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience of 10 years or more to validate the education credits.
  • One to two years or more experience with client engagement with regards to case management, salesforce data entry, intake, referrals, benefits, taxes, and providing support to clients to complete benefits re-certifications and applications.
  • A Bilingual Spanish candidate is required.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $55,000 to $60,000 - salary is commensurate with education, training, experience, program size and location
