About the role

Join our Water US Construction Management Division as an Electrical Resident Engineer and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future. In this role, you will oversee construction projects of varying complexity, applying standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will collaborate with stakeholders, make evaluations and interpretations, and exercise independent judgment to adapt and modify designs as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering concepts of projects using knowledge acquired through an engineering or construction management degree.
  • Ensure technical components meet the engineering requirements of contract documents.
  • Oversee construction personnel to ensure compliance with contract-specified procedures, methods, and materials.
  • Direct Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, Foremen, and others to comply with contract documents and report non-conformances.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, submittals, RFI responses, change management, and other pertinent documentation.
  • Assist in coordination and constructability review of design-phase submittals.
  • Perform engineering calculations for pump performance, concrete mechanics, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
  • Assist the Design Engineer in developing conceptual change management modifications and scope.
  • Prepare cash flow calculations from critical path schedules and schedules of values for project owners to budget total project costs.
  • Monitor contractor progress and scheduled completion through daily reporting and digital photo documentation.
  • Review contractor payment request estimates for accuracy.
  • Assist in commissioning activities for equipment and electrical systems, including developing and maintaining logs and checklists.
  • Witness and document performance and startup testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BEng/BSc) or related disciplines, or an Associate’s degree or technical school certification in electrical or other relevant technical curriculum, plus 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the engineering/design field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders (client, contractor, and design disciplines).
  • General understanding of electrical regulations, standards, and codes.
  • General understanding of electrical systems, including generators, power supply/distribution, UPS, MCC, VFD, OIT/HMI, SCADA, PLC, RTU, DCS, LPS, SPD, grounding, instrumentation, communications, and security.
  • Valid driver’s license and availability for up to 100% travel (mostly day trips to sites).
  • Electrical field education and aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced postgraduate degree.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
  • Municipal and State Agency experience.
  • CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, or NICET certifications.

About the team

You will join Ramboll’s Water U.S. Construction Management Division, supporting the delivery of municipal water construction projects. The division includes administration staff, inspectors, resident engineers, and construction management professionals collaborating across three main regions: Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and New York City. This position primarily supports work in the Mid-Atlantic region but may include occasional opportunities in other regions. The division seeks candidates at various career development levels, from entry to senior, with placement based on experience and qualifications.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $126,000 yearly. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation, along with a comprehensive benefits package supporting well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
