About the Department

Housing & Residence Life (HRL) accommodates approximately 3,700 students and staff across 12 on-campus living communities, including traditional residence halls, suite-style, and apartment-style housing. The department is dedicated to supporting the academic and personal success of residents through a vibrant residential experience rooted in the values of community, learning, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and implementing Residence Life fall and spring trainings, regular RA in-services, in-hall staff training, and team development (60% of time).
  • Supervises student staff and student desk workers, including hiring, training, and maintaining working relationships with facility staff.
  • Manages daily operations of the residential area, including desk operations, maintenance and custodial work orders, and occupancy procedures.
  • Serves as the primary student conduct officer for the hall/area, issuing behavioral sanctions according to University and Housing policy, conducting case adjudications, and facilitating mediations.
  • Holds individual interactions such as conduct hearings, biweekly one-on-one meetings with RAs, and other student interactions.
  • Coordinates educational initiatives and implements the residential curriculum programming model.
  • Serves on 24-hour Resident Director on Call (RDOC) duty (day, evening, holiday, and weekend) 365 days a year in rotation with other HRL staff, responding to emergencies, facility maintenance, and student staff support (35% of time).
  • Maintains an active presence in student life programming and participates in departmental and university-wide professional development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including at least 40 hours per year dedicated to broad divisional or institutional programs (5% of time).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of residence hall operations and supervisory practices.
  • Ability to problem-solve and multitask.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Pay

$49,732.80 annually.
