Resident Care Supervisor

Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the DON, has 24-hour responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing home and their effect on resident care in a designated unit.
- Has authority to make decisions on that unit in the areas of resident care, human resource, and financial management.
- Assists the DON in development, implementation, and evaluation of on-going service programs that assure quality nursing and resident care programs consistent with Bassett Health Network mission.
- Participates in program development proposal as requested by DON.
- Monitors/Maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policy for resident services, and environmental and personnel safety.
- Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow-through and communication.
- Assesses need for personal growth and development and takes the initiative in seeking opportunities to meet this need.
- Oversees unit CQI programs that monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care.
- Fosters a service that is consistent with the resident care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the department.
- Consults with residents/families through primary nurse request, direct family request, and/or direct assessment of resident/family response to condition change.
- Assesses resident/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services.
- Responsible for on-going development of staff and unit-specific resident care programs.
- Responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial resources.
- Responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies.
- Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive employee relations.
- Promotes a positive image of professional nursing and serves as a role model to staff.
- Attains all agreed-to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission.
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
- Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all residents, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Accepts Supervisor assignment as requested.
- Provides resident education as needed.
- Accepts charge responsibility as directed.
- Performs medication administration in an efficient manner as needed.
- Ensures adequate staffing for all shifts.
Requirements
- 2 Year / Associate Degree and Current registration as RN in NYS, required.
- 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Nursing, preferred.
- All RNs hired who do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor’s prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RNs licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.
- Minimum of 2 years of long-term care clinical experience, preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pulling, reaching, stooping.
- Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, pushing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
- Constant fit testing.
Hazards
- Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.

Benefits
We are offering a sign-on bonus for this position. The bonus amounts are based on the position type and are listed below. Additional details and eligibility requirements will be discussed during the interview process. Current employees of Bassett Healthcare Network are not eligible and are encouraged to apply through the internal job board. At the discretion of leadership, this program may terminate or be suspended at any time.
- RN (excluding management) sign-on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $20,000 for full time.
- LPN sign-on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $10,000 for full time.
Pay
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
- Pay Range Minimum: USD $43.93/Hr.
- Pay Range Maximum: USD $65.89/Hr.
