About the role
The Residency Program Coordinator- Department of Medicine (Medical Center) is responsible for coordinating and facilitating all aspects of the residency training program. This position works closely with Program Directors, the department administrator, and residents to ensure smooth operations and improvements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates observers, rotating residents, fellows, and medical school rotators with appropriate staff in the Department of Graduate Medical Education.
- Maintains up-to-date department Alumni database.
- Facilitates all aspects of the Residency training program, including public relations and facility improvements.
- Assists with New Resident Orientation and institutional graduation ceremonies.
- Participates in the Internal Review process as a member of the Internal Review Panel.
- Schedules and coordinates all aspects of conferences, including presenters, audio/visual equipment, and meals/refreshments.
- Updates operative statistics, publications, grants, and residency information on the department’s web site.
- Enters and maintains accuracy of data into applicable software, including demographic, rotation, schedule, evaluation, conference, and licensure information.
- Updates GME on Licensure, Permit and Certification standing of all residents.
- Assists with data collection for Residency accreditation reviews and research projects.
- Prepares reports on operative procedures for program directors, the department annual report, and the ACGME RRC.
- Works with the management on the Program Budget and ensures efficient resource utilization.
- May serve on the Graduate Medical Education Committee and participate in performance improvement projects.
- Identifies and assumes responsibility for own learning needs and seeks continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent education (GED, homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education).
- Experience in an academic setting in the coordination of residency and/or fellowship training programs preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient and employee safety.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
- Competent knowledge of all Microsoft Applications.
- Independent working ability and teamwork skills.
- Well-developed organizational skills.
- Attention to detail with a high priority for timely and accurate information.
