About the role

The Education Program Manager (EPM) oversees program management and administration of the department’s clinical educational programs, including residency, clinical fellowship, medical student, and other subspecialty training initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Administration, the EPM partners with leaders to plan and execute the educational mission, develop and implement essential procedures and policies, and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements. This hybrid position requires an on-site presence with options for telecommuting based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program leaders to develop and present long-term strategies to ensure the viability, growth, and enhancement of educational programs.
  • Identify, develop, and implement policies and procedures to comply with residency and accreditation guidelines (AAMC, ERAS, ACGME, American Board of Dermatology) and provide guidance on changing regulations and institutional policies.
  • Formulate qualitative analysis of program effectiveness and develop evaluation metrics.
  • Develop, expand, and implement educational initiatives for residents, including curriculum tied to milestones and competency-based goals and objectives.
  • Lead department preparation for internal and external program reviews; ensure timely completion of rotation and curriculum evaluations, residency case logs, and entry into electronic databases.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a faculty advisor program for review of evaluations, career planning, and research monitoring.
  • Oversee recruitment databases, analyze data, and make recommendations for enhancements, development, and implementation of recruitment strategies.
  • Monitor and manage the annual program budget, review expenses, and secure resources and funding.
  • Serve on selected committees and represent the program at local and national meetings.
  • Provide leadership direction to assigned staff, including fellowship coordinators of subspecialty programs; hire, orient, train, and supervise residency/clinical fellowship staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience coordinating educational programs, particularly ACGME-accredited residency and/or fellowship programs, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accreditation requirements (AAMC, ERAS, ACGME, American Board of Dermatology).
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement long-term strategies to enhance existing programs.
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining consistent processes while ensuring clear communication in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to anticipate issues and proactively develop solutions, with a continuous process improvement mindset.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with the capacity to handle diverse workloads and fluctuating priorities.
  • Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and direct staff, including coaching and support toward independent work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work diplomatically with faculty, trainees, and staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and other required applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit; occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly or with fine manipulation, and use a telephone.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds; sort/file paperwork.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, or crawl.
