About the Role

The Residency Program Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission of Upson Regional Medical Center by ensuring the success and continued growth of the Family Medicine Residency Program. Under the direction of the Program Director, this position is responsible for the operational management, coordination, and administrative oversight of the program. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison among residents, faculty, hospital leaders, accrediting organizations, medical schools, and community partners, fostering a supportive learning environment that reflects URMC's commitment to compassionate care, excellence, integrity, teamwork, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the development, planning, and coordination of Residency rotations.
  • Organizes the ERAS applicant interview process; corresponds with eligible participants.
  • Develops and directs recruitment activities, which may include extensive and overnight travel for recruitment fairs.
  • Administers and manages the policy implementation of all rules, regulations, and prescripts regulating educational programs; reviews participant requirements such as credentialing and licensure.
  • Assists in achieving and maintaining program accreditation with compliance criteria from organizations such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Residency Review Committee (RRC), Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), and HIPAA.
  • Develops, coordinates, and plans annual educational program events, including welcome ceremonies, orientation, graduation, and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintains informational database systems for reporting purposes and curriculum inventory; ensures compliance with resident case experience (requires training with New Innovations program software).
  • Manages coordination and authorization of educational program budgets and expenditures, including recruitment and reconciliation of accounts with Graduate Medical Education (GME).
  • Manages the evaluation system, including participant evaluations, grade reporting, and coordination of participant file maintenance; monitors and counsels program participants as needed.
  • Oversees the administration of educational exams when needed.
  • Manages educational support staff, including interviewing, selecting, and evaluating GME office personnel.
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision of program participants, including duty hours, personnel records, leave of absences, and personnel policy issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in that field.
  • OR an Associate’s degree and a minimum of four years of directly relevant educational program experience.
  • OR a high school diploma or GED with ten years of directly applicable experience.
  • Preferred experience working with residency programs, medical education programs, or a similar setting.
