About the role
Assists the program director and assistant program director in the management of the residency programs by ensuring accreditation standards are met, educational activities which support the curriculum are established, departmental policies are enforced, and recruitment strategies are implemented so that a highly successful residency program is maintained.
Exercises initiative and independent judgment in communications with faculty and residents, as well as discretion in management and communication of confidential information.
Responsibilities
- Manages the residency office, including estimating and monitoring residency program expenses, creating and maintaining departmental files, preparation of institutional forms and requests as appropriate (i.e. registrations, travel reimbursements, educational books and materials, etc.)
- Ensures that departmental schedules, reports, and correspondence are prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
- Plans and manages day-to-day activities of residency rotation, including the preparation of the weekly resident rotation schedule, development of the monthly conference schedule, monitoring resident evaluation process, scheduling faculty meetings as they relate to the residency program, student education, and other activities as requested.
- Maintains the Albany Medical Center institutional schedule for residency coverage in Radiology.
- Aids in the preparation of appropriate letters of recommendation, verification and reference requests for current and former residents and medical students.
- Aids the program director, assistant program director, and chief residents in planning the monthly conference schedule, ACR In-Training Examination, AFIP attendance, and mock oral boards.
- Aids the program director in meeting the current standards established by the Radiology Review Committee of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Board of Radiology (ABR), and updates program and resident information to the ACGME, and AMA GME Track, and American College of Radiology (ACR) databases annually.
- Prepares and updates appropriate schedules, evaluations, and monitors procedure logs through New Innovations.
- Prepares Program Information Forms for ACGME site visits.
- Ensures appropriate data, files and other required and pertinent information is available at the time of the site visit.
- Plans and coordinates the Resident/Fellow Awards Banquet.
- Develops, updates, and maintains all aspects of the residency program including evaluations, schedules, conferences, portfolios and curriculum in New Innovations, the residency software management suite.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- Graduate of an approved business college - required
- Bachelor's Degree - preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility - required
- possess equivalent experience as determined to be adequate by the Chairman and Patient Care Service Director. - required
- Must have organizational skills with attention to details, experience in coordinating complex schedules, maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment.
- Proficient in word and Microsoft excel is required.
