About the Role

The Resettlement (Preferred Communities) Specialist provides intensive case management services to newly arrived refugees with acute vulnerabilities, including significant medical conditions, through the Preferred Communities (PC) program. This position assists refugees and other eligible immigrants to achieve self-sufficiency within a 12-month period. This is a grant-funded, 40-hour/week hybrid role: 4 days onsite and 1 work-from-home day.

Responsibilities

• Supervise interns and associate-level support team members, including monitoring daily work activities, tracking and approving timesheets, managing performance, documenting concerns, and handling HRIS entries for promotions, transitions, and separations.
• Act as a spiritual leader, fostering a Christian environment through prayer, devotionals, and values-aligned interactions with staff.
• Provide multi-faceted intensive case management services to a caseload of 20-25 refugees, SIVs, and other Office of Refugee Resettlement-eligible individuals.
• Create and implement individualized Self-Sufficiency Plans in collaboration with clients enrolled in the PC program.
• Assist clients in independently navigating the U.S. medical system to manage acute health conditions.
• Coordinate appointments and referrals for clients, including medical, mental health, social services, and community resources.
• Provide extended coaching and orientation on topics such as mental and physical health, financial management, parenting, and family wellness.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including case notes, files, budgets, and reports.
• Collaborate with community partners to connect clients to services and develop new referral opportunities.
• Facilitate mental health support groups using the Pathways to Wellness group curriculum.
• Collaborate with other client service staff to provide holistic services maximizing core offerings for clients.
• Maintain open communication with staff, volunteers, and partners on behalf of clients while honoring confidentiality.
• Supervise and mentor the equivalent of one full-time intern each semester.
• Participate in the onboarding of new PC staff.

Requirements

• Mature and personal Christian faith.
• Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
• Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities.
• Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and the National Association of Evangelicals’ For the Health of The Nation document.
• Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass MVR standards.
• At least 2 years of case management experience with vulnerable populations.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in culturally appropriate and humble services with ethnically, religiously, and linguistically diverse populations.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and organize in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
• Ability to work with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
• Flexible schedule for occasional early mornings, late evenings, or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in a client language.
