Full-time position in the Department of Biomedical Sciences under the direction of the Principal Investigator.

About the role

Join Northeast Ohio Medical University's (NEOMED) Department of Biomedical Sciences. NEOMED is a mission-driven, community-based medical university committed to educating health professionals, advancing discovery, and improving the health of our region. We are seeking a Research Technician in the lab of Dr. Chia-Feng Liu to contribute to meaningful work in a collaborative research environment. This entry-level position will support laboratory research involving mouse models under the guidance and supervision of the principal investigator and experienced research personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with researchers to set up experiments and perform research projects.
  • Execute experimental procedures with precision and attention to detail, including assisting with mouse handling, breeding colony maintenance, genotyping, administration of experimental treatments, collection of tissue samples, and monitoring of animal health.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Follow ethical standards and regulatory requirements applicable to the research field, including approved animal-use protocols, institutional policies, and all applicable animal welfare and research compliance requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and promptly report any issues.
  • Record and organize data generated from experiments.
  • Assist in the analysis of experimental results using appropriate software and tools.
  • Summarize findings and contribute to the preparation of research reports.
  • Compile and update laboratory notebooks, databases, and electronic records with detailed records of experimental procedures, observations, and results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or training.
  • No research experience required.
  • One year of experience in a laboratory environment (preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to collect and analyze experimental data, which may include use of and handling experimental animals.
  • Must be able to utilize applicable laboratory equipment necessary for the job, as well as a phone, computer, and other office equipment.

Pay

Starting pay rate range: $13.98 – $14.50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
