Research Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Aid Dr. Lorico’s team in the technical execution of research projects.
• Maintain, monitor, and oversee specialized research equipment and supplies used in these projects.
• Order reagents and supplies as needed.
• Manage a schedule of work that optimally allocates time for assigned tasks.
• Create and maintain detailed standard operating procedures for the techniques involved in the research.
• Supervise students involved in the research projects.

Qualifications

• College degree with a science background.
• Several years of experience in a research laboratory setting.
• Knowledge of biosafety regulations relevant to research operations.
• Experience with administrative record-keeping.
• Ability to work collaboratively and take on responsibilities.
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, DNA/RNA/protein purification, electrophoresis, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, primary cell culture, cell line maintenance, ELISA, microscopy, and immunohistochemistry.
• Familiarity with animal use, including rodent surgery and tissue dissection.
• Experience with microbiology, including bacterial and viral work.
