About the role

Research Technician to assist and support scientific investigation for a women’s health study in the College of Medicine. The role involves independently conducting assigned experiments and performing a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis.
  • Sort and process tissue and blood samples.
  • Test and evaluate current research procedures.
  • Perform routine procedures on lab animals.
  • Record, consolidate, and assist with analysis of research results.
  • Assist in evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures.
  • Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts.
  • Prepare research progress reports.
  • Assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts.
  • Conduct library research on requested topics through reviewing current literature.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities.
  • Assist with training junior research staff and undergraduate students in research methods and equipment operation.
  • Set up and operate laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor research supplies, including specimens, inventory, and initiate procurement requests as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.
