About the role
Research Technician to assist and support scientific investigation for a women’s health study in the College of Medicine. The role involves independently conducting assigned experiments and performing a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques.
Responsibilities
- Conduct PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis.
- Sort and process tissue and blood samples.
- Test and evaluate current research procedures.
- Perform routine procedures on lab animals.
- Record, consolidate, and assist with analysis of research results.
- Assist in evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures.
- Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts.
- Prepare research progress reports.
- Assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts.
- Conduct library research on requested topics through reviewing current literature.
- Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities.
- Assist with training junior research staff and undergraduate students in research methods and equipment operation.
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment.
- Monitor research supplies, including specimens, inventory, and initiate procurement requests as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
- 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED.
- 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree.
- 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.
