About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to perform sample preparation, data acquisition, analysis, data interpretation, and instrument maintenance under the direction of the Manager and the Director of MSR.
Responsibilities
- Extracts metabolites from tissue and other biological samples and prepare LC-MS samples.
- Organizes and keeps track of LC-MS samples.
- Performs sample analysis using LC-MS.
- Evaluates the quality of the LC-MS analysis.
- Analyzes LC-MS results and generate data reports.
- Maintains lab databases on instrument use, chemicals, and established protocols.
- Affords assistance in routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as directed.
- Affords assistance to users in metabolomics sample preparation.
- Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures suggesting revisions where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
- Affords assistance in training fellows, medical students and lab technicians in laboratory techniques as directed.
- Responsible for submitting purchase recommendations to his/her supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field.
- Experience with LC-MS instrumentation and sample preparation techniques.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
