About the role

Participates in a structured learning experience in the laboratory or clinical research setting, gaining hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, clinical settings, data collection and analysis, and other related skills to explore careers in biomedical and/or clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Learn laboratory techniques to support ongoing research projects in the laboratory or clinical setting with minimal supervision.
  • Learn how to record and analyze data related to research experiments or other data sets with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • May be accepted/enrolled in an accredited college or university as a medical student, MA/MS student, or other graduate program student (excludes PhD students).
  • This position is not applicable to anyone who has completed all requirements for a master’s or other advanced degree.
  • Approval of the HR Director and Associate Chief of Research Training is required for candidates who have already completed a master's degree.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Work Experience

  • None required.
  • Students with previous clinical research or research laboratory experience are often preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to distinguish color.
  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal equipment required.

Complexity of Work

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Pay

The pay range for new hires is $15.00 to $150.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include applicable pay practices such as shift differentials or overtime, nor does it include the value of benefits such as healthcare, dental, vision, or retirement savings account contributions.
