About the role
Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study spinal cord injury as directed in the Department of Neuroscience.
Responsibilities
- Independently conducts assigned experiments.
- Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis.
- Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples.
- Tests and evaluates current procedures.
- Performs routine procedures on lab animals.
- Records, consolidates, and assists with analysis of research results.
- Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures.
- Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts.
- Prepares research progress reports.
- Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts.
- Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature.
- Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities.
- Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation.
- Sets up and operates laboratory equipment.
- Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory, and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
- 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED.
- 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree.
- 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
