About the role

This Research Program Associate position performs Post-Award research administration within the Public Health and Law Research Support Team (PH&L RST). The RST provides a supportive environment for individuals seeking mastery in research administration, with opportunities for growth and professional development. Positions within the RST are currently full remote.

Research Program Associates (RPAs) choose a specific area to become a subject-matter expert (e.g., NIH grants, Foundation regulations, subrecipients, labor and effort, training). The role involves working closely with a group of faculty to oversee their portfolios, requiring sophisticated financial management and compliance expertise. RPAs design spreadsheets and budgets for tracking expenditures, strategize and reconcile award funds regularly, and conduct outreach to other GW stakeholders to maintain operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Initiation and review of requisitions for purchase orders
  • Oversight of subrecipients
  • Reviewing payroll distributions
  • Reviewing payment of service agreements and invoices
  • Reviewing P-Card expenditure reports
  • Monitoring award spending in compliance with GW and sponsor’s terms and conditions
  • Participation in RST and University research-related meetings/committees
  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 2 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field
  • Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute degree requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Experience or expertise in post-award research administration, financial compliance, or related areas.

Pay

$58,992.50 – $81,144.77 per year.
