Position Summary

Under the direction of the Marcus Principal Investigators and Project Directors, perform daily phlebotomy activities of the laboratory accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Performs with confidence, clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Maintains required records and documentation. Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to participants, health care providers, and the public in general.

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills to include geriatric
  • Demonstrates good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage concerns of participants in a professional manner
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
  • Ability to perform data-entry

Responsibilities

  • Greet participants appropriately and treat all participants in a courteous manner
  • Ensure all field specimens are collected accurately and on time
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by testing procedures
  • Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures (i.e. Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, etc.)
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy and sample logs
  • Adhere to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times
  • Report on time to work, following attendance guidelines
  • Communicate appropriately with participants, coworkers and the health care providers
  • Communicate all unresolved problems immediately to the appropriate Manager, Supervisor, for resolution
  • Remain polite and courteous at all times
  • Keep work area neat and clean
  • Dispose of biohazard containers when scheduled
  • Help with inventories and other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Medical terminology helpful
  • Phlebotomy – 3 years inclusive of geriatric venipuncture, capillary collections preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • Keyboard/data entry application
  • Customer service in a service environment

Remote Type: On-site

Salary Range: $22.32 - $31.25
