Position Summary
Under the direction of the Marcus Principal Investigators and Project Directors, perform daily phlebotomy activities of the laboratory accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Performs with confidence, clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Maintains required records and documentation. Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to participants, health care providers, and the public in general.

- Excellent phlebotomy skills to include geriatric
- Demonstrates good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able to manage concerns of participants in a professional manner
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
- Ability to perform data-entry
Responsibilities
- Greet participants appropriately and treat all participants in a courteous manner
- Ensure all field specimens are collected accurately and on time
- Collect specimens according to established procedures
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by testing procedures
- Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures (i.e. Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, etc.)
- Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy and sample logs
- Adhere to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times
- Report on time to work, following attendance guidelines
- Communicate appropriately with participants, coworkers and the health care providers
- Communicate all unresolved problems immediately to the appropriate Manager, Supervisor, for resolution
- Remain polite and courteous at all times
- Keep work area neat and clean
- Dispose of biohazard containers when scheduled
- Help with inventories and other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical terminology helpful
- Phlebotomy – 3 years inclusive of geriatric venipuncture, capillary collections preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Keyboard/data entry application
- Customer service in a service environment
