Phlebotomist II- Per Diem

About the role

Pay is based on experience. This is an onsite, per-diem role with rotating shifts located at 789 Central Avenue.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for laboratory testing, transfusions, donations, and research.
• Explain blood collection procedures to patients and provide support during recovery from adverse reactions.
• Collect blood specimens using a variety of venipuncture techniques, including vacuum tubes, syringes, and butterfly needles.
• Collect capillary blood specimens through dermal puncture methods, including heel sticks and finger sticks.
• Properly dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and organizational policies.
• Safely dispose of blood, biohazardous fluids, and tissue in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and organizational policies.
• Accurately enter patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information into computer systems.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required (experience cannot substitute for this qualification).
• 0-1 year of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of various techniques in collecting specimens.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA regulations and ability to maintain discretion over highly sensitive patient information.
• Proficiency in proper collection methods and processing of all specimens.
• Superior customer service skills, clear communication skills, and ability to show empathy and respect for patients' privacy and autonomy.
• Knowledge and practice of proper aseptic techniques necessary to prevent injury to self and patients.

Pay
