About the role
The Per Diem Lab Associate works in a global organization that connects people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources they need to feel their best. This role directly impacts health outcomes by collecting blood and non-blood specimens for laboratory testing.
Responsibilities
- Obtain blood and non-blood specimens from patients
- Verify and record patient identity and converse with patients to ease their fears
- Apply tourniquets, swab puncture areas with antiseptic, insert needles, withdraw needles, apply treatments, and label and store blood containers
- Maintain daily tallies of collections performed
- Accurately accession and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Record requests for blood collections, answer questions about test orders, take messages, and route calls
- Perform waived or moderately complex testing using kits or lab instruments, troubleshoot, and follow quality control procedures
- Contribute to general laboratory functions and organizational needs
- Attend department staff meetings and in-service training
- Keep work area neat and clean, restock daily supplies, and perform receptionist duties
- Assist with training student interns and new employees
- Assist with specimen processing and testing procedures in various clinical areas
- Communicate effectively, collaborate, and cooperate with coworkers, medical staff, and supervisors
- Adhere to PPE and safety procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or Phlebotomy Technician certification
- Experience completing at least 100 venipunctures
- Access to reliable transportation and valid US driver's license
- CPR Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Qualifications
- Graduate from a Phlebotomy technical training program
- Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Proven solid interpersonal skills and customer service orientation

Pay
The salary for this role ranges from $16 to $29 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
