Research Engineering Technician - Engineering

About the role

Support the faculty investigator by assisting with testing force sensors and integrating these into gripper devices. Contribute towards development and conducting of research projects, including equipment design, prototyping, equipment maintenance, experimental design and data acquisition, data analysis, documentation of experimental results, assisting in writing scientific manuscripts, research proposals and reports.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments and calibrate equipment.
• Maintain records/reports.
• Collect data from experiments.
• Monitor/evaluate experiments.
• Daily lab care of work spaces.
• Aid in preparation/maintenance of protocols for experiments.
• Maintain lab research, safety and purchasing records.
• Evaluate compliance with university and laboratory safety regulations.
• Foster proper handling of lab waste.
• Facilitate the execution of tasks such as routine lab chores, preparation of lab devices and regular maintenance or cleaning of equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience in an engineering discipline or physics, or four years of equivalent education/experience in an engineering or sciences laboratory or research setting.
• Preferred Qualifications: M.S. - Master of Science.
