RESEARCH ENGINEER I (SYSTEMS ENGINEER) (2)
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Aids in the development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
- Sets up and attends support meetings, teleconferences, and travels as needed for projects.
- Supports testing and launch/return activities for approximately 7-day periods, 5-10 trips per year.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with one (1) year of related experience required.
- Work experience may not substitute for the education requirement.
- STEM-related field is preferred.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Systems Engineering experience with space-flight or aerospace applications.
- Systems Engineering experience for development and production of embedded / integrated systems.
- Systems Engineering experience with ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality Programs.
- Operations support for NASA or commercial space activities.
- Experience using CAD software (e.g. SolidEdge or SolidWorks).
Pay
Annual Salary: $57,940 - $94,150

UAB's Engineering and Innovative Technology Development (EITD) group provides flight operations support of payload systems for space applications. The group supports the development of specialized research instruments for ground and microgravity-based research experiments. Since 1990, EITD has grown into a full-service organization offering a range of solutions from technical guidance to complete turn-key systems and services from concept through fabrication, deployment, and operational support. Engineers are experienced in design, development, and commercialization of innovative hardware and software systems for the aeronautic and life sciences industry.
