Research Engineer (Engineer I)
What You’ll Do
- Executes a variety of specialized, technical research and development activities.
- Supports the design and implementation of Matlab/C/C++ based tools and displays in the areas of flight test, vehicle assessment, aircraft/eVTOL certification, autonomous operations, and other needs as assigned.
- Performs research and analyses as directed by project leads.
- Prepares portions of project documents.
- Performs tasks within schedule with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail. Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptations in methods of nonroutine aspects of assignments.
- Assists in providing on-the-job training as required for new and existing employees.
- Maintains project files and appropriate records of work, compliant with company and aerospace industry standards, practices, and regulations.
- Mets all company timelines, processes, trainings, and initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you Need
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field.
- Strong skills with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent. Working knowledge of C/C++ a plus.
- Experience with stability and control system design and assessment and/or vehicle flight modeling and simulation.
- Experience in the aerospace industry required. UAS / UAM experience a plus.
Bonus Qualifications

About the Role
The Research Engineer (Engineer I) at Systems Technology Inc. (STI) is responsible for executing a variety of specialized, technical research and development activities. This includes data analysis, model development, and the creation of general R&D software tools to enhance company capabilities. The role also involves assisting in training and guiding less experienced staff members, contributing to business development activities, and interfacing with customers under the supervision of project leads.
This position requires a strong background in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, with proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or C/C++. Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly in UAS/UAM, is highly valued.

Pay
The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Systems Technology Inc. aims to offer a compensation pay between $75,000 – $85,000, which includes base pay, performance bonus, and ESOP.
