About the role

The Business Planning & Research Unit at the California Lottery maximizes sales and contributions to California public schools through thoughtful evaluations of marketing initiatives and enterprise programs. We conduct consumer research and analytics to drive key business and marketing strategy decisions. This role is ideal for a creative, analytical thinker who enjoys working independently while collaborating with a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze consumer behavior and research data to inform business and marketing strategies.

Requirements

• Current Research Data Analyst I exam eligibility (or ability to obtain it).
• Residency in California (required for telework eligibility per California Government Code Section 14200).
• Ability to report to the Sacramento headquarters as assigned (travel expenses are the employee’s responsibility).
• No felony convictions or gambling-related offenses (per the California State Lottery Act).
• Must clear a background investigation prior to hire.

• Demonstrated ability to meet the desirable qualifications identified in the job advertisement.
• For education-based eligibility, provide transcripts and/or diplomas (unofficial transcripts are acceptable for application; official transcripts required upon appointment).
• Applicants with foreign transcripts must provide a transcript evaluation indicating equivalent units.

Pay

• Range A: $4,469.00 - $5,079.00 per month
• Range B: $4,611.00 - $5,495.00 per month
• Range C: $5,529.00 - $6,922.00 per month

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and excluded state employees are subject to a salary reduction of 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave hours each month.
