About the role

SRI's Biosciences Division (BSD) develops transformative approaches and platforms for challenging therapeutic problems. We conduct basic and translational research, offering breadth and depth in biomedical research through technology development. Our researchers collaborate with government agencies and industry partners to improve health outcomes and well-being worldwide. The Center for Health Sciences within BSD is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate (RA) to support the NIH-sponsored Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. This role provides training and hands-on experience with neuroscience and applied and developmental psychological measures in a cutting-edge research lab. The position is onsite in our Menlo Park, CA office.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting multiple types of data from participants (adolescents, adults), including:
    • MRI scans
    • Administering computerized neuropsychological tests
    • Participant interviews
    • Collecting biosamples
  • Managing participant records and tracking study progress
  • Entering data into a database
  • Adhering to deadlines set by the investigator
  • Complying with governmental regulations and SRI policies regarding health and safety issues
  • Operating sophisticated MRI equipment independently and safely

Requirements

  • BA/BS in psychology, neuroscience, physiology, or a related field with at least 2 years of related experience
  • Experience with principles of sound research design and data collection
  • Experience collecting data such as neuropsychological tests from adolescents
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to implement complex and multiple tasks
  • Ability to work well with people, including children and adolescents, to elicit best efforts in testing
  • Experience with computer-driven devices
  • Ability to maintain a tight schedule, follow through with attention to detail, and work variable hours, including weekends
  • Team-oriented mindset

Pay

The salary range for this position is $70,000–$73,000. Ranges may vary based on geographic location, market competitiveness, and internal equity. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
