Research Associate in Neuroscience
About the role
The Department of Neuroscience at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years).
Responsibilities
- Designing and conducting independent research projects
- Performing molecular, genetic, genomic, and biochemical experiments
- Analyzing and interpreting data
- Preparing manuscripts and presentations
- Collaborating with laboratory members
- Contributing to the broader scientific mission of the laboratory
Requirements
- Expertise in the specific area of neural development, axon guidance, neuronal specification, or neural circuit assembly
- Experience working with Drosophila and/or mouse model systems
- A strong background in molecular genetics, genomics, transcriptional regulation, and developmental neuroscience
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree
Skills
- Experience investigating transcriptional networks regulated by Fra/DCC receptor signaling and their roles in neural circuit development
