Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with operational users, decision-makers, and stakeholders through meetings, workshops, site visits, and scientific conferences to support collaboration and identify user needs.
  • Support the transition of NASA research products into operational and applied use by recruiting new partners, facilitating end-user adoption, and incorporating stakeholder feedback throughout the transition process.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and educational resources, including user guides, online modules, videos, and in-person or virtual training sessions, to support effective product implementation.
  • Design and implement assessment strategies to evaluate current and emerging research products by collecting and analyzing end-user feedback to inform product improvements and operational readiness.
  • Represent SPoRT through participation in scientific meetings, conferences, and outreach activities to communicate research results, engage end-users, and strengthen partnerships within the Earth science community.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in meteorology, atmospheric science, geosciences, Earth science, or a closely related discipline
  • 1-1.75 years of full-time work experience
  • Experience in the operational weather forecasting community
  • Knowledge to translate and deliver complex scientific content to end-users or the general public
  • Education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: Weather Communication, Technical Training, Instructional Design, Science Writing, Technical Writing, or Science Education
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work closely with others in a team environment
  • Desire to engage with end-users, both in-person and virtually
  • Must participate in science workshops and conferences, publish results, and produce annual reports

Desired Qualifications

  • Master of Science in meteorology, atmospheric science, geosciences, Earth science, or a closely related discipline preferred
