Duties/Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of higher-level value-added products for use by operational users and decision-makers in the Earth science and weather communities.
  • Spearhead the transition of new products to applications end-users and decision-makers through the collection of feedback from end-users in the weather forecasting, disasters, agricultural, and hydrologic communities.
  • Lead and develop appropriate product training, including quick-start guides, product overviews, online training modules, and training videos, and conduct training sessions with end users.
  • Design and implement assessment strategies to evaluate current and emerging research products by collecting and analyzing end-user feedback to inform product improvements and operational readiness.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with operational users, decision-makers, and stakeholders through meetings, workshops, site visits, and scientific conferences to support collaboration and identify user needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in meteorology, atmospheric science, geosciences, Earth science, or a closely related discipline
  • 3.75 - 5.25 years of directly related full-time work experience
  • Experience in engaging with operational forecasters or decision-makers
  • Experience using integrated weather information systems for weather analysis, forecasting, and delivery of weather briefings to end-users
  • Experience translating and delivering complex scientific content to end-users or the general public
  • Education and/or experience in one or more of the following areas: Weather Communication, Technical Training, Instructional Design, Science Writing, Technical Writing, or Science Education
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work closely with others in a team environment
  • Desire to engage with end-users, both in-person and virtually
  • Knowledge and desire to participate in science workshops and conferences, publish results, and produce annual reports

  • Published Salary (if Available) $62,659 - $77,982
