Research Associate IV, Step 1

Duties / Responsibilities

• Support the HLS Lead to manage efforts related to the Satellite Needs Working Group (SNWG) Cycle 1 HLS, Cycle 3 HLS-VI, Cycle 4 HLS Low Latency, and Cycle 5 10 m HLS products.
• Design, implement, and manage cloud resources related to the HLS suite of solutions on AWS platforms.
• Support HLS Lead with day-to-day HLS project activities and coordinate with upstream and downstream stakeholders (LPDAAC, OPERA, GIBS, and ESDIS members).

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 45 months of full-time, verifiable work experience.
• Hands-on experience in cloud native code development on major platforms (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
• Working knowledge of remote sensing satellite data sets.
• Working knowledge of scientific code development using Python/C++/Fortran.
• Strong communication skills.
• Prominent ability to work in a team setting.

Desired Qualifications

• Master's degree and/or Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Engineering, or a related field is desired.
