About the role
The Vascular Biology Center at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a laboratory technician to assist in various research activities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and tidy lab environment
- Assist in mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, and inventory updates
- Collect issue samples from mice and perform molecular and histopathological experiments
- Assistance in cell culture, Western blot
- Frozen sectioning; immunostaining
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned, or
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in the same field, and a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cell culture, mouse tissue collection, and molecular cell biology techniques
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
Abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability and willingness to work with research animals
- Ability to complete work, meet deadlines, and work independently with only general supervision
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $17.88-$21.92 per hour.
Pay Band: B5
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
