About the role
The Research Assistant (RA) will work in a well-funded laboratory focused on experimental pediatric heart transplantation using piglets. The RA will design, conduct, and analyze experiments, and attend daily clinical rounds to interact with clinically active team members. The ideal candidate will be interested in obtaining grant funding for career progression to faculty or staff scientist.
Responsibilities
- Designs and plans experiments.
- Participates in experimental transplantation, post-operative care, and analysis.
- Organizes and maintains the lab.
- Writes publications and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field plus one (1) year of laboratory and animal research experience, including breeding and genotyping.
Skills
- Biochemistry, Molecular and Cancer Biology.
- Tissue culture and microscopy skills.
- Ability to independently design and successfully carry out experiments in a laboratory setting.
- Strong data recording and reporting skills.
- Willingness to perform animal studies.
