About the role

The Research Assistant oversees data collection, data organization, and data management for research studies in the Urology department, supporting a Principal Investigator (PI) or research team.

Responsibilities

  • Run routine and ad-hoc reports and use standard tools to review data.
  • Assist with data cleaning to ensure accuracy and prepare tables.
  • Lead data collection, entry, and database management tasks.
  • Merge, manipulate, and query data from various databases.
  • Oversee day-to-day data collection for research studies.
  • Analyze routine and non-standard data, and write reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to protocol requirements to ensure data validity.
  • Prepare mandatory reports, documents, and assist in grant writing.
  • Meet regularly with the PI or team leader to review data accuracy and study progress.
  • Conduct literature searches to support the PI and research team.
  • Interact with clinicians to access patient populations and recruit research participants.
  • Verify patient eligibility, conduct interviews, and collect specimens (e.g., blood, urine, saliva).
  • Schedule follow-up visits and maintain research files (paper and computerized).
  • Prepare for and participate in audits and monitoring of studies.
  • Assist in preparation of IRB protocols and related documents.
  • Participate in weekly research group meetings, schedule meetings, create agendas, and complete minutes.
  • Assist with laboratory tasks, such as in vitro experiments on cultured cells or in vivo experiments on mice.
  • Communicate with team members on project status.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education, as permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of related experience.
  • Master’s or advanced degree.
  • Prior experience with research data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.

Pay

Starting hourly range: $17.65 - $31.05 (targeted annual salary: $50,648, commensurate with experience).

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
