Responsibilities
- Assists with the design, planning, and coordination of experiments in support of various research projects including field, greenhouse, and laboratory studies.
- Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research, and maintains detailed records of data.
- Manages and coordinates various research projects as needed.
- Uses field, lab, or technical equipment to collect data, organize data sets, and prepare reports.
- Evaluates and summarizes results.
- Aids in maintaining financial accounts and other clerical tasks related to research projects.
- Aids undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research with various day-to-day activities.
- Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment.
- Aids in reports, invoices, and cataloging records.
- Aids in ordering supplies for office and research use.
- Maintains and updates inventories.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities
- The candidate will assist with the design and execution of various experiments.
- Research will involve field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments related to the area of weed science.
- An ability to multi-task and oversee several research projects and associated activities is essential.
- The candidate will interact and collaborate with other Texas A&M system scientists.
- The candidate will coordinate and manage various research projects and personnel in the weed science program.
- The candidate will assist the program with communications, accounting, report preparations and other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
- The successful candidate will already have or in the process of completing a BS in weed science, agronomy, biology, physiology or a relevant field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A pesticide applicator license is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
- Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
- Knowledge of greenhouse, laboratory and field research involving plant-herbicide interactions and herbicide resistance mechanisms.
