About the role
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure research track. The role focuses on oligodendrocyte biology and myelination, with expertise in lysosomal and cytoskeletal functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop collaborative and independent research programs related to myelination and the relationship between glial cells in the nervous system.
- Conduct research using methods including primary cell culture of oligodendrocytes, imaging and analysis of oligodendrocytes in vitro and in vivo using fluorescence, confocal, and live cell microscopy.
- Study cellular organellar structure, function, and interactions to investigate the generation of the myelin sheath and regeneration in the context of developmental and neurodegenerative diseases and injury.
- Supervise postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff coordinating NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators.
- Participate in writing grants, reports, and manuscripts.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree.
- Experience in oligodendrocyte biology and myelination, with knowledge of lysosomal and cytoskeletal functions.
