About the role
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track.
Clinical responsibilities
- Inpatient service and outpatient clinic
- Outpatient clinic in the CHOP satellites and inpatient service at the CHOP Philadelphia Campus as well the Middleman Family Pavilion at the CHOP King of Prussia Campus
- CHOP Neurology satellite outpatient clinics include several Pennsylvania-based locations in Chalfont, Abington, Lancaster, Bryn Mawr, and King of Prussia, as well as New Jersey-based practice locations in Voorhees and Princeton
Teaching responsibilities
- Bedside teaching and oversight of observers, medical students, residents and fellows in a clinical setting
- Formal lecture opportunities within the department
Requirements
- M.D. or equivalent degree
- Board-eligible or board-certified Child Neurologists
Qualifications
- Broad clinical skills
- Interest in a dynamic practice combining clinical excellence with academic and teaching opportunities
- Expertise in epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology, headache, neonatal neurology, critical care neurology, and inpatient neurology especially encouraged

- CHOP Philadelphia Campus is home to a dedicated 24-bed inpatient Neuroscience Unit staffed by an inter-disciplinary team with specialized training in pediatric neuroscience, housing the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and specially equipped to meet the unique medical and surgical needs of infants, children, and young adults with neurological and neurosurgical conditions
- CHOP Philadelphia Campus is also home to large neonatal, pediatric, and cardiac intensive care units, along with extensive ED and Ward neurology consultation
- Shared call rotation of 5-6 weeks/weekends per year
- Pennsylvania based CHOP satellites are located in the suburbs of Philadelphia; CHOP King of Prussia Hospital opened in January 2022 and is 45 minutes from the main campus
- Additional child neurologists will allow for expansion of inpatient neurologic care and a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit in this new community hospital
