About the role

Position responsibilities include carrying out routine tasks in the research laboratory, such as maintenance of cell cultures, basic molecular biology, biochemical assays, tissue collection, and genotyping. The role will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and research staff with experimental procedures, data collection, and general laboratory maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Experiments: Maintain and propagate mammalian cell cultures, perform transfections, gene editing, gene cloning, genotyping, Western blotting, mouse breeding, and microscopy. Procure and maintain laboratory resources and equipment. Conduct experiments using biochemical, cell culture, and molecular assays as designed by the PI. Manage animal breeding, maintenance, and treatment protocols. Participate in project planning, research protocol development, and publication efforts.
  • Analyze: Analyze experimental results using manual or computer techniques. Summarize and evaluate findings, and generate figures for publication.
  • Order Supply: Order supplies, stock the lab, photocopy materials, and clean/maintain laboratory and equipment.
  • Other: Perform additional related duties as assigned by the PI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life sciences, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area and experience in a research or clinical setting.
  • or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields and a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical area.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Willingness to work with research animals.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.

Pay

Salary range: $17.88/hourly – $21.92/hourly, commensurate with qualifications.

Schedule

Days; Monday–Friday. Work outside of standard business hours may be required.
