About the role

Provide clinical research support for multiple studies across various specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Data Entry: Enter data into Microsoft Excel or Access, including data abstraction from electronic medical records into electronic data capture systems. Learn electronic medical record systems. Monitor and log temperatures of freezers and refrigerzers. Orient new research assistants.
  • Administrative: Ship blood or specimens in compliance with regulations. Handle biohazard materials. Screen eligible patients in the electronic medical record system. Answer office telephones. Maintain study files or binders.
  • Patient Study: Schedule future study visits. Measure height, weight, and vital signs if trained. Safely draw blood for study laboratories. May be required to work weekends or after hours. Assist other personnel as needed.
  • Errands: Run errands within the office, university, and hospital. Maintain patient confidentiality. Work with students on study conduct.
  • Additional Duties: Train on aseptic techniques in the Operating Room as per research protocol. Travel to outside health facilities. Audit other research assistants. Properly store study medications.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related natural, life, health care, or materials science field and experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting (particularly clinical trials research).

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science, or clinical setting (particularly clinical trials research).

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pay

$17.88/hourly - $17.94/hourly, commensurate with qualifications within the established range.

Schedule

Days; Monday-Friday. Work outside of standard business hours may be required.
