Research Assistant II - CuSTOM

Primary location: Burnet Campus. Full-time, regular position (40 hours/week, day shift).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource to the department in specific areas; demonstrate competence in knowledge, skills, and behaviors; communicate effectively with team members to contribute to their growth.
• Perform experiments and record data: follow research protocols, maintain accurate records, analyze and graph data, design and execute daily laboratory experiments, reproduce and evaluate techniques for accuracy.
• Apply standard protocols, research and improve methods, and evaluate innovative techniques; assist in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel.
• Provide customer service: maintain strong working relationships, respond quickly to requests, identify and meet customer needs, and communicate relevant information.
• Manage lab administration: troubleshoot equipment, maintain inventory of supplies, maintain cell cultures, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, respond to erroneous results, assist in daily lab operations (e.g., answering phones, organization, cleanliness).
• Perform safety monitoring checks as assigned (e.g., radiation safety, biosafety).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of work experience in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
• May require an Associate degree, vocational training, apprenticeships, or equivalent

Pay

Starting pay range: $20.57 – $25.72 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on-call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.
