RESEARCH ASSISTANT II
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to research projects in Dr. Tauana Cunha’s lab at Loyola University Chicago.
- Analyze and interpret genomic data.
- Contribute to scientific writing.
- Manage and maintain laboratory equipment (centrifuges, thermocyclers, nanopore sequencers).
- Stock supplies for the lab.
- Support and train student researchers.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in biology, evolution, or a related field.
- Experience with genome-scale sequencing of non-model organisms and command-line bioinformatics.
- Experience with molecular lab techniques (DNA extraction, library preparation, high-throughput sequencing).
- Familiarity and/or enthusiasm for working with invertebrate animals.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.

About the role
This position is contingent upon the availability of funding and may be limited to one year.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field and one to two years of related experience.

Proficiency in R and command-line/bash scripting.
