Research Assistant II

We are the Plebanek Laboratory, investigating how dendritic cells and macrophages impact anti-tumor immunity and tumor progression. We use molecular biology and functional genomic approaches to identify potential points of intervention to prevent immune dysfunction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate laboratory studies, execute experiments, and analyze data for various research projects.
• Maintain laboratory records and documentation.
• Write and optimize experimental protocols.
• Order laboratory reagents.
• Assist in murine colony management.
• Maintain laboratory equipment.
• Train new laboratory members.
• Communicate data with laboratory members and supervisors.

Requirements

• Knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree in tumor immunology and cancer biology.
• Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in overseeing research projects and laboratory operations, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, performing specialized and difficult analytical and research techniques, and designing research experiments.
• Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue, and other bodily fluids, as well as work with live animals and/or unfixed animal tissue.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in a related field; 3+ years of laboratory experience and/or MS in a related field (desired but not required).
• Interest in tumor immunology.
• Independent experience in a molecular biology research lab.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using multi-parameter flow cytometry (preferred).
• Experience working with murine models (preferred).

Schedule

Standard 8 AM – 5 PM.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from the date of hire, with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.
