Research Assistant II

Job Description

The Laboratory of Dr. Veronique VanderHorst at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is recruiting a Research Assistant I/II. The new member will join a team of researchers focused on studying brainstem circuits and their function, using both mouse and human research lines.

Responsibilities

• Tissue preparation
• Immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization
• Digitization
• Semi-quantitative and quantitative analyses
• Data management
• Perfusions
• Assistance with physiological assays
• Working with senior staff on developing new protocols
• Preparing and resolving data queries for clinical sites
• Participating in educational projects
• Assisting with complex scheduling and travel logistics

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline preferred
• 1-3 years related work experience required
• Careful attention to detail
• Ability to problem solve
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access

Physical Nature of the Job

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move throughout the hospital campus.

Pay Range

$21.64 – $31.25
