Research Assistant I - Pharmacology

Responsibilities

  • Performs research projects, including the collection and organization of data.
  • Follows instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs data entry in accurate, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Maintains clear and accurate data collection records and inventories in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
  • Maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
  • Creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data.
  • Handles live lab animals (Mice and Rats) and performs SOPs including behavioral testing and collecting blood and tissue samples.
  • Performs bench work including immunohistochemistry, PCR, microscopy, digital droplet, RNA extraction, ELISA, and other cellular and molecular assays.
  • Aids in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, psychology, biology, or related degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Experience with Word Processing and Excel.
  • Experience with statistical software such as R or Python is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work with animal models (Rats and Mice).
  • Prior experience is a plus.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to obtain a T1/Public Trust Background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $19.33-$25.00. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
