About the role
The Research Assistant I position at Houston Methodist's Antibody Discovery and Accelerated Protein Therapeutics (ADAPT) lab is responsible for providing technical research support in performing research experiments. This position contributes to the discovery and development of therapeutics for infectious diseases using proteomics, artificial intelligence/machine learning-enabled protein engineering, and directed evolution.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the organization, tabulation, and analysis of data
- Maintains records of data collected
- Contributes to the creation of large numbers of gene variants and massive mutation libraries
- Works in a highly collaborative team to learn, apply, and develop techniques for the creation of large numbers of gene variants and massive mutation libraries
- Manages the scale of samples and interfaces with automated systems
- Provides updates on assigned experiments and research outcomes
Requirements
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, gene cloning, sequencing) is a plus
- Proficiency with bioinformatics, scripting languages, and/or lab automation
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Arts or Science in a related field
